Citizen Science Projects

You don't need a degree to be a scientist. We recommend joining Zooniverse, the world’s largest platform for people-powered research. You can assist scientists by classifying wildlife footage or identifying bird songs, critical data that directly aids the HIFI Lab's mission.

Volunteering Opportunities

Take action locally. Conservation takes a village. If you are in the Indiana area, we encourage you to donate your time to our partner organizations.

Wolf Park: Assist with animal care and educational events.
NICHES Land Trust: Help maintain the vital wildlife corridors that animals like Bob rely on.

"Adopt" an ambassador

Become a Guardian. Symbolically adopt Niko or Bob to support our research. Your adoption donation directly funds our acoustic monitoring and conservation education efforts. What you receive:

A personalized Certificate of Adoption.
A plushie of your chosen ambassador.
An official fact sheet about the species and their local ecosystem.

Sound Scavenger Hunt: Close your eyes, can you identify 3 different bird calls and 1 insect buzz?
Backyard BioBlitz: Use a hula hoop to mark a spot on the grass and count how many different bugs you can find inside the circle.
